Mike Wiser
Mike Wiser has worked on more than 40 films for FRONTLINE since joining the Kirk Documentary Group in 2003. An award-winning writer and producer, he has reported on national security, foreign affairs, sports, criminal justice, and the global financial crisis.
Mike has worked on numerous films about American politics, including America’s Great Divide: From Obama to Trump, a four-hour mini-series examining the country's deepening divisions.
Mike’s recent projects include The Choice 2020 and President Biden, an examination the life and career of President Joe Biden. The film United States of Conspiracy investigated how conspiracy theories transformed American politics and Supreme Revenge told the story of how politics had remade the Supreme Court. During the presidency of Donald Trump, Mike helped to produce numerous films documenting and investigating the Trump presidency. Those films include: Trump’s American Carnage, Zero Tolerance, Trump’s Showdown, Trump’s Takeover, President Trump, Trump’s Road to the White House, Bannon’s War, and The Choice 2016.
His work telling the story of the National Security Agency spying in United States of Secrets earned a Peabody Award, a DuPont Columbia Award, a Writer’s Guild Award and two Emmys -- including Best Documentary. He also served as a producer and co-writer on League of Denial: The NFL’s Concussion Crisis, a film that received a Peabody Award, a Writer’s Guild Award and a George Polk Award. Mike received an Emmy for FRONTLINE’s investigation Gunned Down: The Power of the NRA. He also worked on numerous films about Wall Street and financial regulation, including the Emmy Award winning film The Warning and the mini-series Money, Power and Wall Street, which earned an Emmy and a George Polk Award. In addition, Mike helped produce more than 10 films on the government’s response to September 11th and the American occupation of Iraq, including The Torture Question (Emmy Award), The Lost Year in Iraq (Emmy Award), The Dark Side, Cheney’s Law (Peabody Award), Bush’s War (Emmy Award) and Losing Iraq.
Mike graduated summa cum laude from Middlebury College, attended the London School of Economics as a General Course student and received a Juris Doctor degree cum laude from Harvard Law School.
