Hello, my name is Pau Faus.
I'm the director of Fauna .
Fauna is about the relationship between a scientific laboratory and the everyday life of a shepherd.
These two very different realities are one in front of the other one.
So the film is about how these two worlds interact and look at each other.
And what you are going to see is what I consider the most important scene of the film.
When we started this film we were going to talk about a topic that is not easy, which is animal testing, but we were going to do it with a poetical approach.
Believing that there is a way to talk about this and to create a beautiful dialogue between these two different worlds would be something that would also allow us to talk about this very controversial issue.
This sequence is also placed at the beginning of the film.
So before that, you have seen the shepherd with the animals in the forest.
This scene is talking about one kind of story and all of a sudden, you zoom out and you realize what is on the other side of the window.
And I personally also believe that this journey from the shepherd to the scientist is also like a life journey that we have as humans.
We are born as animals.
We are connected to the outside world.
And the more we grow, the more we get more into artificial space.
We live in our houses, protected with our windows.
So the outside becomes like a landscape framed in our windows.
It's not the place where we live anymore.
So all of this was something that we planned, very meticulous, because it was not technically not [an] easy shot.
And for me, it's like... it should be the trailer of the film, only this sequence, you know because everything is in there.
